Carbon & Hybrid Tapes

A range of hi-modulus Unidirectional Carbon & Hybrid Tapes from 60 gms to 220 gm/m² (6.1 oz /yd²)  we use Carbon and Hybrids sparingly for striping surfboards for added strength and to tune flex through a board. Carbon in the mid-section reduces unwanted flex underfoot, while enhancing flex in the nose and tail. Carbon on the rails produces amazing torsional flex results and adds strength to the toe areas. Sold by the metre or in rolls – some are stitched, some are layered on a polyester web fused matrix. (See proviso’s below). Choose a style from the list….

Description

A range of hi-modulus Unidirectional Carbon and Hybrid Tapes (from 75 gm to 180 gm/m² (5.29 oz /yd²) we use for striping surfboards for increased strength and to tune flex through a board. Carbon in the mid-section reduces unwanted flex underfoot, while enhancing flex in the nose and tail. Carbon on the rails produces amazing torsional flex results and adds some strength to the toe areas. Needs experimentation for best results.

Use with caution – can cause unwanted stress points that might enhance breakages. with carbon never leave a straight cut edge – and always try to repeat the pattern top and bottom is used over longer lengths. We do a variety of carbon tape products – all work in various areas.

(Carbon looks great aesthetically, yet we recommend using carbon sparingly. Its stiffness isn’t always suitable as a strengthener, and it creates stress points unless applied properly. It should always be applied carefully without kink or change of direction – that is why it is unidirectional. Use multi-directional fibreglass or multi-layers of s-glass for adding strength. We recommend Kinetiq Tape – a unidirectional S-glass tape, for adding strength.)
