Description

This is a High Quality (HQ) Catalyst. MEKP (Methyl Ethyl Ketone Peroxide) is also known as Hardener, or just Peroxide. This HQ product from a premium supplier is recommended over standard catalyst because it is pure and consistent, giving better gel and cures with Methacrylated and Isophthalic resins and in various conditions such as cooler ambient temperatures. It has a higher active oxygen content, giving more heat in the exotherm, using less catalyst as a result. Available in 15 ml, 20 ml, 100 ml, 150 ml, 250 ml, 500 ml, 1 litre, 5 litres, and a 30 kg Bulk Plastic Container. We supply this HQ Catalyst by default where required.

Warning: Catalyst is a highly corrosive product, and requires proper safety equipment. Always use safety goggles and gloves when handling, and keep away from soaps, metals, rust and other reactive products. Read the SDS for all safety advice before handling or use. Keep away from children!

Seabase recommends this catalyst in all quality critical applications, for use in specialist resins such as ISO 10X, Seabase SQ 10M resin, Marine LR 10M and in resins where cooler conditions inhibit cure and gel times. For heat sensitive applications, we recommend a slower version of this catalyst. Call for details. We also stock a range of less expensive Standard Catalysts, suitable for General Purpose, Marine, Roofing and other areas where Polyester Resin is used.

Directions for use:  Mix between 1% and 3% into polyester resins.  (10 – 30 ml per kg of resin). Blend well. See the advice on cans for the optimum quantity. Over-catalysing resin causes a rubbery, soft resin and generate heat. Under-catalysed resin will not go hard. Poor mixing may cause blistering, hard or soft spots, and uncured resin.

Shipping: This product cannot be shipped with Polyester Resin. We ship double wrapped. This product is banned on all aircraft. For safety reasons we only sell MEKP to bona fida manufacturers.
