Typical of these products is the 2010 Creatures of Leisure accessory range. The Australian company is always at the forefront of design and engineering in surf products, exampled by their new DNA leashes and HiLo deck grips in 2008. Last year the Creatures range of Slim Fit board bags changed the way board bags were used, eliminating waste and introducing fresh style and ease of use to a product most surfers took for granted. By reducing leash breakages by 90%, Creatures epitomises the typically quality oriented company we look to represent.
Also part of Seabase'success is the new progressive Quiver surfboard range. "We believe our team riders European wins on our surfboards has completely changed the perception of high performance surfing. These boards are unique in that caring shapers dictate the structure to the manufacturer, not the reverse. They work."
The success of the Seabase team in contest arenas around Europe has helped sell the concept that surfers need not suffer inferior equipment from custom producing outlets. The Seabase factory is renowned for quality, especially in the limited numbers of Quiver surfboards they produce, and use their factory as a proving ground for the latest materials and techniques. Manager Pani Bundy says
"We are producing exceptionally fine surfboards – the new parabolic and Epoxy/EPS range using US Blanks and especially designed Hexcel fibreglass with Silmar Resin & Resin Research Epoxy, is right up there before most others. Our new young surf team hopes to do for short-boards what our sponsored riders have done for European longboards on our boards. To aim for 100% quality in a hand produced product like a surfboard is a tall order, but we are there. They still break, that is the nature of surfing, but the damageability and fragility is greatly reduced while all the attributes of a great surfboard remain, and more".
The results of this experimentation is available to our customers throughout Europe – in the same way we worked with Hexcel cloth for 20 years to get the perfect surfboard fabric, we are working with US Blanks and resin companies to change the way surfboards are produced. For example, our new White Flash water-based speed coat, under development and testing right now, will provide a simple and safe way of sealing all Epoxy and PU surfboards while providing a clean, UV stable and bright white finish. Look out too, for our totally revised new surfboard resin in 2010.
100% Quality:
Seabase' 100% Quality push is across the range of products they represent. If they haven’t the confidence in a manufacturer, they will have the product made for the customer to a higher standard. "This is the current case with RTM (Resin Transfer Moulded) removable fins. Apart from True Ames, whose fin quality is outstanding, we are now committed to our own quality range of all glass, RTM and Natural Composite Fins across the board – look out for the new 2009/10 range in
February next year designed by some of the world’s best shapers and surfers for the new F3 boxes, and the older Futures and FCS boxes. "The 100% Quality Project all means greater security for the surfer in and out of the water, and most often at a cost that is extremely market competitive".
The 100% Waterproof 100% Quality logo will be seen on every retail product sold by Seabase in Europe in 2010.
