Seabase ISO 7X

Formulated to make stronger, whiter surfboards, Iso 7X is easy to use, with carefully calculated gel and cure times. Follow the instructions for hassle-free laminates. We rrecommend only Hexcel Fibreglass for clear, white finishes. Click here to view our range of Seabase Iso 7X resins.

Note:  Iso 7X is an Isophthalic resin with different cure properties to usual orthophalic resins, such as Silmar. You should only use our catalyst (hardener), as it is contains a more active oxygen content than usual catalysts, and produces a perfect match for colour retention and undisturbed UV absorbers. Download a more comprehensive  Surfboard Construction Sheet  for more detailed information, including instructions, quantities and times.

At a temperature of 21 Deg C or more, add 12ml - 15ml catalyst per kg of Iso 7X. That's a ratio of 1.2% - 1.5%. Use a plastic catalyst dispenser LC15 at £9.48 for accurate results. For small quantities from our supplied 12ml or 20ml bottle use  30 drops in 100gms of resin. Test for gel times. Do not use a metal spoon. A plastic 5ml teaspoon is ideal. Use a dropper for more accurate control.

Note:  Mix thoroughly with a flat stick. Stand for 20 seconds to allow air to escape. Work the resin quickly and smoothly into the fibreglass.

G
el time is 12 - 15 minutes at 21 Deg C. Cure time before overcoating is 8 - 12 hours depending on ambient temperature and humidity. Do not allow more than 24 hours to elapse before overcoating.

Use more or less catalyst depending on temperature and humidity. Do not use more than 2.5% catalyst, or 25ml per kg. Measure accurately and mix thoroughly.

These times and instructions are provided as a guide only. Different heat concentrations, drafts, and varying ambient temperatrures may cause results to vary. Test for your own conditions & times. Dispose of the quickly heating excess resin carefully before it gels.

Do not leave the resin mixed in a pot - it will heat up and may cause a fire!
